    This 17 day tour can be reversed starting either from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam or Luang Prabang, Laos. Tour prices are subject to change depending on the flight schedule.



    On arrival at the airport you will be welcomed by your English speaking guide and then transferred to the hotel for check-in. Embark on a half day city tour to visit the major temples of Vientiane including the Wat Sisaket, a temple of thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Continue to visit Lao national icon, That Luang Stupa, and we stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. Evening at leisure.

    Following breakfast leave the capital early morning for our journey northbound; we will see some breathtaking scenery enroute as we pass through spectacular countryside towards the mountainous region. Along the way visit the busy and colourful market of Thalat where various hill tribes come to trade goods and buy provisions. Next stop of our trip is Vang Xang, famous for its archeological site dating back to the 11th century. Reach our final destination Vang Vieng, which is nestled on a bend of the Nam Song River. Evening at leisure.

    As part of our half day tour of Vang Vieng, we explore the famous caves of Tham Jang, which was once used by the local people as a hideout from Chinese invaders. We also cross the river to Ban Huai Ngai, a very pleasant village where we can explore the different lifestyles of the locals.
    Following lunch, we head north up route 13 to Luang Prabang. The stunning mountain scenery makes for an interesting journey. After a couple of photo stops, we arrive in Luang Prabang early evening. Evening at leisure.

    Start your day with a visit to the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum (closed Tuesdays), which hosts a range of interesting artifacts then to the city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture. Continue to the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham.

    After lunch and break visit the Arts and Ethnology Centre to learn about Laos’ many ethnic cultures before we head out of the town to see the weaving villages of Ban Xiengkhong and Ban Xienglek. Return to the city for a visit to Wat Mai. Next, climb up the 328 steps to the top of Mt Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a panoramic view of the city at sunset and the Mekong River.

    Finish the day with a visit to the colourful night market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by local and hilltribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Evening at leisure.

    Following breakfast we visit the morning Phousi Market, where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, and today you will visit local villages of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Ouay, a Hmong village, Ban Ou a Laoloum village and Ban Thapene, Khmu villages. Continue to the beautiful Khuang Si Waterfall with multi-tiered pools and cascading falls, ideal for swimming and relaxing or walk along the forest trails. Return to Luang Prabang.
    In the afternoon, we embark a wooden river boat for a cruise up stream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside, before reaching the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. Stop en-route to visit the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the local rice wine. On return, we disembark the boat to visit traditional villages, and take a short drive to Ban Phanom, a village famous for its hand weaving. Evening at leisure.

    After breakfast, free till transfer to the airport for departure flight from Luang Prabang to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, a city that celebrated 1,000 years in 2010 has countless fascinating cultural and historic sites. Arrive in Hanoi and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure.

    DAY 7: HANOI CITY TOUR (B, L, -)

    08h30 You will be picked up from your hotel lobby and depart for the city tour with visit to the One Pillar Pagoda, founded by King Ly Thai To in 1049. This structure is one of Vietnam's most iconic temples. Close by is the mausoleum of the historic figure and father of modern Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh (viewed from outside; closed Mon and Fri and from Oct-Nov) and the former presidents house on stilts where he lived from 1958 to 1969, his former home illustrates the modesty of this Vietnamese revolutionary.
    Continue your visit to the Taoist Temple (Quan Thanh Temple) which is dedicated to Tran Vu, one of the principal deities in Taoism or visit Tran Quoc Buddhist Pagoda, was built in the sixth century (means “Stabilizing the Nation”). Lunch will be had in one of the city's finest restaurants.

    After lunch visit the Temple of Literature - Vietnam's first university, also referred to as Van Mieu, was established within a temple to educate Vietnam's royalty, mandarins and members of the elite. The university functioned for an incredible 700 years and its gardens and well-preserved architecture offer a fascinating glimpse into Vietnam's past.

    Next we go to visit Hanoi Old Quarter also known as the '36 streets'. Take a walking tour around Hoan Kiem Lake. This bustling area of narrow streets and alleys is home to literally thousands of small businesses and shopkeepers. It's a great place to explore life-style of Hanoians, culture or architecture with plenty of photo opportunities all around you.
    Return to your hotel where the full day trip ends.

    DAY 8:


    Following breakfast leave Hanoi for a 3hr30min drive to Halong Bay including a 20-minutes stop on the way. Arrive at your jetty in Halong City towards noon and proceed with check-in formalities. After your welcome onboard, a lunch will be served while cruising towards the bay itself.

    In the afternoon, enjoy some visits and/or activities (depending on each boat’s itinerary) or just spend some time relaxing on board. Towards the end of the day the boat sets anchor for the night among the karst formations.
    Dinner is served on board.

    Rising to the sound of lapping bay waters, we have time for an early morning dip followed by breakfast. Sitting on the upper deck, you can relax while taking in the breath-taking beauty of the rocky islands rising from the emerald water of the bay.

    On your return to Halong City enjoy a wholesome brunch as your boat wends through strange-shaped limestone rock formations. Upon disembarkation your driver will meet you for the transfer back to Hanoi.

    At leisure for shopping until your transfer to Noi Bai Airport for the short flight to the central port city of Danang. On arrival in Danang transfer to Hoi An (30km), a major Asian trading port in the 17th and 18th centuries whose architecture and relaxed lifestyle has changed little over the years.

    This morning we take a walking tour of the ancient town centre to visit former merchants’ houses, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge, a Chinese communal hall and the colorful market. Hoi An is a destination with two faces – the charming, old-world trading port of narrow streets and traditional houses, and the beach with its new resorts and long stretch of clean white sand. In keeping with Hoi An’s heritage as a trading port, the town’s tiny shop houses now host a range of craft shops and artisans including some of Asia’s best bespoke tailors. Despite the passing of 200 years and the ravages of weather and war, the centre of Hoi An remains much the same as it was in its heyday.
    Around the town we can see a numerous art galleries and tailor shops, get some made-to-order clothes if you like. Have lunch then return to your hotel.

    Rest of the day is free to relax by the pool or on the sandy beach (Cua Dai beach is 3km far from Hoi An town) or wander the streets and discover Hoi An.

    Tour guide meets you at your hotel lobby, then go by bicycle to Hoi An’s colorful central market. Here you will have the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and learn about the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later.  Make sure your camera is handy.

    10h00 Continue to Tra Que Herb Village. Take a rest with a special welcome drink then walk through the market gardens where local farmers work on their fields using traditional methods from 300 years ago.

    11h00 Learn the traditional ways of preparing and cooking Vietnamese food. The chef will show you how to cook “Cao Lau”, “My Quang”, and “Tam Huu”.  After the lesson, enjoy what you have cooked.

    13h00 Return to your hotel.


    08h30 Tour guide meets you at your hotel lobby then depart for a short ride to Tra Que Herb Village by bicycle.Take a walk around the herb garden where you can join in preparing the land and fertilizing it with seaweed from the local lake; see how they are raking the ground, sowing, watering, picking vegetable …

    After a short rest and enjoy foot soaking it is time for preparing your lunch with many local delicacies.

    13h00 Return to your hotel.

    Have this morning at leisure for last minute shopping or sighseeing on your own until transfer to Danang airport for one hour flight to Nha Trang - the beach capital of Vietnam also well known for its beaches and scuba diving.
    Arrive at Cam Ranh airport where you will be met then taken 45-minute transfer by private car to your hotel in Nha Trang. Rest of the day is at your leisure.

    Depart from your hotel to Cau Da port. Embark on a boat trip to Mun Island - the best island for snorkeling where you can see lots of lives colorful corals and fish. Then go to Mot Island for fishing, relaxing, swimming & doing water sports or other activities (optional). Next we go to Con Se Tre Island where a delicious lunch of seafood is served.
    After lunch, you can relax and sunbathe on a deck chair in a hut or on the beach while drinking Vietnamese coffee.

    Return to the harbour where the bus awaits to bring you back to your hotel. Have dinner on your own and free in the evening.
    Stay overnight in Nha Trang.

    The morning is free to relax by the pool or on the sandy beach. It is not only the blissful beaches and glorious coastline that define Nha Trang. There are some more sedate activities on offer beyond the waters. Try an old-school spa treatment with a visit to a mudbath or explore centuries-old Cham towers still standing in the centre of town. Or throw culture to the wind and experience Vinpearl Land, Nha Trang’s attempt at Disneyworld. Nha Trang has something for everyone.
    Early afternoon transfer to Cam Ranh airport for 55-minute flight to dynamic Ho Chi Minh City, still called Saigon by the locals. Upon arrival to Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat International Airport) you will be picked up and transferred through the city to your hotel for check-in. The busy city of Saigon, used to be the capital of South Vietnam, is the biggest commercial and cultural centre of Vietnam. Free and easy.

    You will be picked up from your hotel lobby and depart Ho Chi Minh City at 08h00 in the morning for the drive to Cu Chi district. Leaving the city behind, the scenery changes to views of rice paddies, villagers drying noodles by the side of the road and other scenes typical to southern Vietnam.
    Arrive and start the visit of the famous Cu Chi Tunnels which consist of an incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters (Viet Cong) during both the French and American wars. Start the visit with the Ben Dinh or Ben Duoc sections of the tunnel. Here you can imagine what it was like to be a guerrilla complete with Russian Carbine rifles and AK 47's on display.

    Journey back to Ho Chi Minh City around noon and have lunch at a local restaurant.
    After lunch embark on a half day tour of vibrant Ho Chi Minh City. Your program includes the Reunification Hall, formerly known as the Presidential Palace it was towards this modern building that North Vietnamese tanks seized on the morning of April 30 1975, as Saigon fell. This fascinating building is filled with history still fresh in the minds of many. From there stroll (your vehicle will be available at all times) to the major sights of colonial Ho Chi Minh City: the Old Saigon Post Office, Dong Khoi Street (formerly Rue Catinat), Continental Hotel, Opera House and City Hall. After this historical visit continue to the War Remnants Museum where exhibition halls display imagery of both the French and 'American' wars.

    Finish the day with visit to Ben Thanh Market where an incredible display of fresh produce is offered. Simply stroll through the market seeing and enjoying the variety of goods for sale. Return to your hotel where the full day explorer ends. You will have dinner on your own.

    This morning, leave bustling Ho Chi Minh for the 2 hour drive to the delta town of Cai Be.  The local traditional wooden boats, vast emerald rice fields and lush back waterways; these are the things that make Cai Be such a desired destination.

    On arrival board your boat for a cruise of Cai Be floating market. Traders work the river and some have been living on these waters for generations. Produce at the market are hung on a pole in front of boats to attract customers and make it easier for people to see from afar what is on offer.  Immerse yourself in a world of lush vegetation from the Mekong Delta as you pick through the fascinating and lively market, watching buyers bargaining for produce.

    After visiting the market continue to a cottage factory where ‘pop-rice’, rice paper and coconut candies are made. Return to the boat for the cruise to Tan Phong Island. Next, take a rowing boat along the maze of shady canals. Head for a local orchard to enjoy the local tropical fruits, and visit artisan workshops to see the handicraft producers of the village at work.

    Break for lunch at an orchard garden. Lunch will be local Mekong style serving specialties of the area. Afterwards, you will ride bicycles to villages, sightseeing and soaking up the rural ambiance or enjoy cooking class. If you prefer to relax, you can laze in a hammock.

    Following your cruise drive back to Ho Chi Minh City.
